What a fantastic day it was! On May 4, 2025, runners, walkers, volunteers and supporters came together in the borough of Waldwick, New Jersey for the 17th Annual Waldwick 5K Run & 1-Mile Walk, hosted by the Waldwick Chamber of Commerce. The day was — as always — a spirited celebration of community, fitness, and fun.
If you weren’t able to join in person, or if you want to revisit the excitement, here’s the video we captured:
Highlights from the Day
- The theme this year? Star Wars! Many participants embraced the fun by dressing as favorite characters and so the slogan “May the Fourth Be With You!” truly came alive.
- Over 700 runners and walkers crossed the finish line.
- Despite the threat of rain, the weather held long enough for the event to go off without a hitch.
- Thanks to your participation and generosity, the race was a big success: $40,000 will be donated to local schools, veteran groups, community organizations and charitable causes.
- In particular, $2,400 was raised for the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (for pediatric cancer research), and the Chamber matched donations to bring that total up to $5,000.
Why We Love This Race
- It’s not just a run. It’s a community event. Whether you’re serious about your time or just out for a fun walk with friends and family, this is an event where all are welcome.
- The creative costumes and theme bring a joyful, playful element that sets this apart from many standard 5Ks.
- Every year the proceeds are funneled back into the community: schools, veterans, nonprofit programs — you get to feel that full circle of giving back.
- It’s well-organized, from course maps to results and clear communication (props to the Waldwick Chamber for pulling it all together).
